Change Whenever You Want

Want to know what one of my favorite things about running my own business is? The power to change its course whenever I want.

One of the things that was so challenging for me when working for someone else or in a corporate environment was that fact that there were many elements that I did not have control over. Didn't like the project I was assigned? Too bad, I had to suffer through. Didn't like the role I played within a team? It was the role I had to play. Didn't like my clients? Oh, well. I didn't get to choose. And don't even get me started on working styles.

It left me frustrated and feeling stuck.

For a long time, I let my work circumstances dictate how I felt. I didn't always recognize how much control I had over my life and that I could CHOOSE a different path. And now, after making the first big change to working for myself, I recognize the power I hold by simply and always believing I have the ability to change.

Change at first feels hard. It feels scary. But in many ways, the fear of staying where I was outweighed the fear of something new. I embarked on a fitness journey that shed 70 lbs and opened up a whole new world. I bought my first horse - worried about how I was going to afford it - but jumped in and now I have 3.  I agonized for months about whether or not to quit my job and do Avenue Equestrian full time.

But with each major change, I was shown a whole new set of opportunities. Do I still bristle at change? Sometimes. But now I know and trust that I have the power to change what I need to in order to go after what I want.

This is true for my life and my business.

So it is so, so, SO important for me that you know as a business owner, you have the power to change your business whenever you want or need to. This might be big sweeping changes that pivot your whole business model (been there) or making a tweak to a client contract. It can mean working from a coffee shop for better productivity or updating your whole offer suite in one afternoon.

I want you to be confident in your ability to change and adapt and know that YOU are in charge of making your business what you want. Don't leave it up to anyone else.
